Established in 1968, New Tokyo Hospital is a young hospital compared to its peers. We are young spirit-challenging, energetic, and idealistic in healthcare we provide, and are adaptive to the rapidly evolving knowledge and technologies of the 21st century medicine. We strive, as a unit, for excellence and innovation in care and education in name of common goal; to be the most trustworthy hospital for the sick by improving and saving the lives of patients in the community and around the world.
New Tokyo Hospital ranks among the most active medical institutions in the world in the area of invasive category. Although the hospital is not sizable, it is recognized widely for its high-level and compassionate patent care. We perform more than 6,200 cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) exceeding 2,100 cases per annum. For many patients with severe heart disease, our cardiac surgery team serves as the last resort.
The next few years will be an era of transformation and expansion for New Tokyo Hospital. To ensure another 50 years of advancing medicine both locally and globally, and to accomplish our mission as a community hospital with a high level of care, a new, $158 million hospital building construction is scheduled to start in the spring of 2011 with completion in the end of 2012. This new hospital, located approximately 2km from the current hospital, will feature state-of-the-art patient care facilities and medical equipments. The new hospital will boast centers of clinical excellence in cardiology and cardiac surgery, digestive disease, orthopedics, neurosurgery and emergency medicine.
